“I will tell of thy name to the brethren; In the midst of the congregation I will praise thee”
Psalm 22:22
The Young Adult Choir is made up of high school, college, graduate students, working professionals, young adults ages 17 to 30 with a gift, desire, and enthusiasm to sing for the glory of God. We are young men and women who desire to give God the first fruits of our gifts back to him in the prime of our lives.
The Young Adult Choir was originally birthed under the direction of Roderick Bell in 1991. He envisioned a community of young adult singers. From the death of Mr. Bell, Kenneth Lewis became the director. In 2001 under the direction of Kenneth Lewis the choir did a live recording “Lord We Praise Your Name” at St. Augustine for their 10th Anniversary. After a brief hiatus and reorganization, the Young Adult Choir was re- birthed in 2011 under the direction of John S. Smith and they continue to sing Praises to the Glory of God.
The Young Adult Choir sings regularly at the 12:30 p.m. Mass on the second Sunday of every month.
Our mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the young and old through glorious songs of praise.
Rehearsals for the Young Adult Choir are on the first and second Saturdays of each month at
11:00 a.m. in the Church.
If there are weddings, funerals, or other events in the church at that time, rehearsals for the choirs will take place at 1419 V Street in the Chapel.
We are openly seeking members with the gift and desire to sing, especially tenors. You may contact Choir Director: John S. Smith at [email protected] or (202) 360-9983
