"A Christian is: a mind through which Christ thinks, a heart through which Christ loves, a voice through which Christ speaks, and a hand through which Christ helps."
~ St. Augustine of Hippo
St. Augustine is a community of faith striving to be Christ in mind, heart, voice, and hand. As a Roman Catholic parish, we believe Christ to be truly present through Sacred Scripture, through one another as the Body of Christ, and in the bread and wine which become the Body and Blood of Christ our Lord during the Mass. We try our best to be a community that cares for and supports each other throughout our lives and faith; warmly embraces all who walk into our parish; and works to improve living conditions for our sisters and brothers in the Washington Metropolitan area.
Located in the heart of our Nation’s Capital, St. Augustine’s is one of the most historic church sites in Washington, DC. Our parish is deeply rooted in its rich history. We offer many opportunities for spiritual growth as well as chances to volunteer time and service to the Church, community, and the greater good of God. If you are a visitor and would like to visit us, please see the Mass times. If you are a parishioner, please consider taking advantage of the various ministries and activities available and actively step into the St. Augustine family.
